ABOUT

Motor Neurone Disease

Motor Neurone Disease is FATAL. It paralyses the body leaving the mind intact. There is NO known cause, NO cure and NO remissions. Average life expectancy is 2 to 3 years from diagnosis.

In Australia each day at least two people die from MND and two are diagnosed.

MND Associations help people to live well while fighting MND. They provide information, support, equipment and research and the hope that is needed to NEVER GIVE UP.

Cox's Bridge to Cox's Place - Ride for Research & Care

Cox’s Bridge to Cox’s Place event is the initiative of the Loch Sport Business & Tourism Association, together with the Lion's Clubs of Loch Sport and Sale, Loch Sport & Golden Beach CFA and supported by the Loch Sport Ambulance Services and Community groups. Cox’s Bridge to Cox’s Place event is a 64km (approx) bike ride from Cox’s Bridge in Sale to Cox’s Place in Loch Sport; where riders, the general public and their families can enjoy food, refreshments, while relaxing and listening to the live entertainment, browsing goods for sale and enjoying the overall festive atmosphere – catering for the whole family.

(Note: registered participants will receive their food and refreshments free of charge).

We were very honoured that Football Legend Neale Daniher offered to start the Cox's Bridge to Cox's Place Ride for Research & Care - MND Victoria at Cox's Bridge in 2016 and offered for future rides (subject to his health).

The third event will be a again a one day ride to honour Bruce Cox “The Doc” (a Loch Sport Resident), as well as his many accomplishments as a volunteer and tireless worker within Sale, Loch Sport and Gippsland Communities.

In 2014 Bruce Cox was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and it was his wish that we hold this event annually to raise awareness of this most heinous of illnesses and to support Motor Neurone Disease Victoria in the remarkable work they do helping and supporting those living with a terminal disease and their families. Sadly Bruce’s fight to battle this odious disease was lost in March 2016 but he was determined until the end that we must NEVER GIVE UP fighting this disease and help those families who have to live through it.

This year we have changed the registration points to 4 – giving riders the option of 4 locations to ride to Cox’s Place. - catering for all fitness levels.
